Alia Shawkat

Alia Martine Shawkat is an American actress. She starred as Maeby Fnke in the FoxNetflix television series Arrested Development , and as Gertie Michaels in the 2015 horrorcomedy film The Final Girls.

Shawkat was born in Riverside, California, to Dina and actor Tony Shawkat. She grew up in nearby Palm Springs. She has two brothers. The actor Paul Burke was her maternal grandfather. Shawkats father is Arab Iraqi, from Baghdad. Her mother is of halfNorwegian, onequarterIrish, and onequarterItalian descent.
